Cause of 27-Car Pileup in Georgia Under Investigation

Georgia officials are investigating the cause of an accident on Interstate 75 in Bartow County that involved nearly 30 vehicles and sent several people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Georgia Department of Transportation tells news agencies that 27 cars were involved in the accident which happened in the northbound lanes near exit 288 on Sunday afternoon.

Thirteen people were reported injured and taken to the hospital. Officials say those injuries appear to be minor.

Transportation officials also say the accident resulted in an oil spill that required major cleanup.

The crash blocked several miles of northbound traffic.
